American Osteopathic Academy of Sports Medicine – AOASM
Mission: The AOASM aims to nurture and educate today’s athlete for continued success. The AOASM also provides an entity for communication and teamwork among healthcare professionals to ensure quality care and fitness guidelines. As the oldest primary care based sports medicine specialty, the AOASM takes pride in creating an amalgam between the healthcare professional and the athlete.

Our Chapter: We will have eight club meetings featuring distinguished faculty and visiting clinicians covering a wide range of topics such as neurological injuries in sports, concussions, how to conduct a full osteopathic screening on an athlete in fifteen minutes, weekend warrior injuries, common sports radiological diagnoses, surgical indications, performance enhancers, nutrition and fitness, and psychological aspects of sports injuries. A workshop that has continued success is on special tests, taping/suturing, and various others. Also, we are looking to do weekend trips to volunteer at local sporting events and educate high school athletes on injuries as well as preventative training.
